Additional How to Take the Grrrr Out of Anger (Laugh And Learn) Information

Anger is a part of life. We can’t avoid it, we shouldn’t stuff it, and we can’t make it go away. Kids need help learning how to manage their anger. This book speaks directly to kids and offers strategies they can start using immediately. Blending tips and ideas with jokes and funny cartoons, it guides kids to understand that anger is normal and can be expressed in many ways—some healthy, some not. It teaches them how to recognize anger in themselves and others, how to deal with situations and emotions (loneliness, guilt, frustration, fear) that lead to or mask anger, and how to deal with the anger they feel. Young readers learn that violence is not acceptable and there are better, safer ways to resolve conflicts. They also discover what to do when people around them are angry, how to get help, and how to locate other resources (books, hotlines, school groups) when they need more support.

What Customers Say About How to Take the Grrrr Out of Anger (Laugh And Learn):

Great tools to help kids identify and understand anger. It also gives easy to follow tips on how to control anger. This book would benefit all school teachers, parents and anyone who deals with kids. Excellent book.

I ordered several items to help discuss "anger issues" with our just-turned-six-year-old. I also found a poster on-line (not the same authors/illustrators as this book) that gives "top-ten ways to control anger". (I am ordering a second book and leaving it unmarked for our older children).

I was pleased with the clever ideas and entertaining illustrations in this book. It gives good sound advice and reminders of how to control your temper and set the example. This was my favorite.

This is a good book for adults to read as well. It was rather "wordy" for his age and attention span (which is normally long - we read a lot of books together) so I went through with pen and ruler and marked through 60% of the words. He (and his younger sister) now enjoy it in one reading and are already discussing ways they can calm themselves.

It clearly shows how to avoid causing hard feelings and resentment with family and/or friends. I hope that will help as a visual reminder of the concepts he is learning in this book.

It would be helpful if it related to the immediate problem the child is having, or is interested in. As I went through this book, I felt that the information given required a fairly high level of self-awareness and reading skill to benefit from it. An excellent resource for a parent or teacher, I feel the younger child (10 years and younger) would retain information most from having an adult read portions to them. The book doesn't seem to lend itself to a read from cover to cover, but would be better read and/or discussed in segments, even for the older child. I really like the content, but was looking for a book for younger children.

I had my client read a few chapters, and this allowed him to understand why he does the things he does. Good reference that Kids can use.

For example, my son flew off the handle when someone would smirk at him or laugh at him. (He's only in first grade)They were one day suspensions, but regardless, he was suspended for anger behavior issues. So that you can set up the question correctly. I sat him on my lap at my computer and we researched it together.

And we both learned as the book teaches, you can control your anger, YOU decide if you want to be mad, no one else, can make you mad. We picked out these books together and strange as it may seem, soon after his behavior started to change, it was like he was someone elses child.lol. The lessons we went through were amazing as far as learning together what he should do and as a parent how to approch situations. My son was suspended from his school, 3 times in 2 weeks. And my son is amzingly different now. My son said I would scream at him to "watch out man or next time you'll get it." IN the book it tells you it was a handicapped person in a wheel chair that bumped into the student, beforehand.

I asked my son what if it was Dennis. (A Kid in his school who is in a wheel chair), He said then I would not have screamed at him.

Thanks to these books. And as a parent it kills you inside to think that your child could be so bad.

You choose to be mad or not. Make fun of his behavior.

IN the book it gives a situation, what if you were walking down the hall and a kid bumped into you knocking your books to the floor, what would you do. He is my first born of 2, I don't have all the answers, I learn as I go, but I know I love him enough to try anything.

Thank you, "Getting the GRRR out of Anger", We have learned alot as a family.
